Collins 516F-2 Maintenance Solid Tube We Ship FREE Worldwide

This is a solid tube that is necessary for servicing the Collins 516F-2.

There are a total of eight in the two photos, but I will be selling six.

Two are required for one 516F-2.

The heater of the 516F-2 rectifier tube (5U4GB and 5R4GY) generates a lot of heat, so the 516F-2 becomes extremely hot, and

many 516F-2s have burnt marks on the case.

High heat has a negative effect on the parts inside the 516F-2 and can cause deterioration and failure, so measures are necessary when servicing.

As a countermeasure, a solid tube (semiconductor substitute) that can be directly inserted into the rectifier tube socket is effective and
is popular in the United States.

Simply replace it and it will work.

By replacing it, the vacuum tube will no longer generate heat, and at the same time, the voltage drop caused by the vacuum tube will almost disappear and the high voltage

side (nominal 800V) is fine for practical use, but the low voltage side (nominal 275V) tends to be a little too high.

KWM-2 and 32S-3 will work as is, but it would be better to take measures to lower the output voltage on the low voltage side to avoid heat generation and changes in the operating point.

Specifically, adding a voltage stabilization circuit would be a good idea.

A voltage stabilization circuit will prevent output the voltage from fluctuating due to changes in the current of the load (32S-3 or KWM-2), so you can expect stable operation of the load.
